Shane Clayton - A Third Person Bio

Shane Clayton (AKA Shane Montane, his stage name), was born in a small town in eastern Idaho on March 14, 1954. An un-degreed art major and horticulture science minor at ISU and BSU, Shane wound up making a lifelong career utilizing his artistic eye coupled with his deep affinity with the natural world as a landscape designer and groundskeeper, nursery and greenhouse manager, and as an aquarium specialist, both as a manager in stores since 1985 and as a business owner for 25 years until recently semi-retiring. He still keeps his arms in the salt water and takes care of nine amazing reef aquariums for a client/friend. He has been singing and playing in bands since 1978 and still performs now and then with musician friends.

Shane has been a student of Western Esoterism since the mid-70s, and after visiting the touring Tutankhamun exhibit in Seattle in 1978, he became deeply fascinated by ancient Egyptian history and culture. This interest culminated with a solo visit to Egypt 40 years later in 2018 where he entered their ancient sacred spaces, encountering the many Neteru (divinities or god forms) there - along with hieroglyphics with the names and recipes for the incense and fragrant anointing oils that were offered to them daily - all gorgeously carved into the stone temple walls. Read how he was first introduced to the ancient Egyptian Seven Sacred Oils on his first day in Cairo here: “Welcome To Egypt!”.

Having no luck finding anyone else who has reproduced these recipes, Shane was inspired to undertake the in-depth research himself, which led to the development of the several formulations offered for sale at his ‘The Egyptian’ Sacred Scents Store. These exotic ancient Egyptian botanical fragrance mixtures and magical potions are all handmade by Shane at his country cottage in Northern California, also the location of his interdisciplinary holistic healing practice called Wandering Stars, which operates under the auspices of Dragonfly Healing and Educational Center. Aromatherapy, particularly Egyptian aromatherapy, is an integral element in this practice, its efficacy being supported by several recent clinical studies. (see his articles “About Frankincense” and “Egyptian Blue Lotus”)

In seeking an ongoing realignment and reintegration of the Mind/Body/Spirit complex, Shane utilizes several tried and true methods originating from three localized and long-established religious, mystical, and philosophical resources: 1) the Western traditions of Egypt, Greece, and the Levant, 2) the Eastern traditions of India and China, and 3) Shamanic traditions common to various tribes of Indigenous Americans in the so-called New World, particularly Mesoamerica. Wandering Stars was established as a place to share certain of these healing arts with open-minded others, no matter what their beliefs may be.

The latter practices emphasize a form of Mazatecan shamanism that is largely based upon the medicinal use of the psychedelic green plant Salvia divinorum, which is legal in California, that Shane grows and shares at his Butte Valley cottage. Please read his information-packed article “Salvia divinorum - The Diviner’s Sage for more about this amazing plant, its legal status, recent clinical research, and its fascinating history. A limited quantity of his potent Salvia divinorum tincture is available for purchase (where legal) from Wandering Stars upon request to those of you who are interested and are 18+ years of age.
